Typeface plays a very important role in a artwork, If you are wrong it will make people feel like something is wrong somewhere... So, how to choose a Font?

Choose a category of type
  • Choose a typeface that you think will match your work.
Quality of printer & paper
  • Where are you getting your artwork to be printed? If you are printing from low resolution printer (eg. fax machines, photo copier), don't choose font like serifs. Those fine lines will not get printed.
The look you want to convey
  • What are you designing for? What is more important? Readability or aesthetics? You want a serious look, a look look or a decorative look?
How much space do you have?
  • Different typefaces take up different space even at the same point size. Comparing fonts next to each other & see how much difference they take up in room.
Use more than one font?
  • Make sure the fonts are very different from each other. If they are not very different it looks like a mistake. Don't be afraid to use wild fonts where they are appropriate and use it sparingly. Don't be a wimp!
Founded by Riley Cran and Tyler Galpin, the Lost Type Co-Op is a pay-what-you-want foundry. Browse through the retro-inspired typefaces, I love them so much! You can enter a donation amount from $0 to $1 Million then downloading the font. 100% of the funds go directly to the font designer.
